Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, met with US Envoy to Lebanon, Amos Hochstein, to discuss regional developments, including the situation in Lebanon. The meeting took place at the Saudi foreign ministry headquarters in Riyadh, according to an official statement.
The talks come amidst accusations between Israel and Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire terms agreed upon on November 27. The ceasefire includes provisions for the Lebanese army to deploy alongside UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, with the Israeli army withdrawing over a 60-day period. Hezbollah is required to withdraw north of the Litani River and dismantle military infrastructure in the south.
The UN peacekeeping force has also raised concerns about repeated ceasefire violations by Israel.
Hochstein is expected to travel to Beirut later on Monday, indicating continued US involvement in addressing the ongoing tensions in the region.
